Day 7 of 9

Love of God above all things

From the Novena to St. Therese of Lisieux (the Little Flower)

Sacred Scripture: John 19:28

Meditation for Day 7

Therese understood Christ's cry from the Cross, I thirst, as His eternal thirst for the love of His creatures. She answered with her vocation, desiring that in the heart of the Church she would be love itself. On this seventh day we ask this little martyr of Love to use her power in heaven to inflame our hearts, that we may do all things for the love of God, giving Him the pure delight of a soul that loves Him not for what He gives but for who He is.

Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)

Closing Prayer

O Lord, You have said: Unless you become as little children you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven; grant us, we beg You, so to follow, in humility and simplicity of heart, the footsteps of the Virgin blessed Therese, that we may attain to an everlasting reward. Amen.

Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
