Zeal for souls and the missions
From the Novena to St. Therese of Lisieux (the Little Flower)
Sacred Scripture: Matthew 9:37-38
Meditation for Day 6
From her cloister, Therese became a missionary by prayer and sacrifice, co-patroness of the missions alongside St. Francis Xavier, though she never left Normandy. She took to heart the Lord's words that the harvest is great but the laborers are few, and made her interior suffering an offering for priests and missionaries on every continent. On this sixth day we unite ourselves to her apostolic heart, praying that all people who do not yet know Jesus may be brought to know, love, and follow Him.
Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)
Closing Prayer
O Lord, You have said: Unless you become as little children you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven; grant us, we beg You, so to follow, in humility and simplicity of heart, the footsteps of the Virgin blessed Therese, that we may attain to an everlasting reward. Amen.
Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
