Day 3 of 9

Gratitude for God's gifts and use of natural blessings

From the Novena to St. Therese of Lisieux (the Little Flower)

Sacred Scripture: James 1:17

Meditation for Day 3

Therese saw in every flower, every creature, and every moment a reflection of God's extravagant generosity, recognizing that every perfect gift comes from above. In the Carmelite cloister she found beauty not in great visions but in ordinary things offered to God: a kind word, a selfless errand, a smile to a difficult sister. On this third day we ask the Little Flower to teach us to lift our eyes from creation to the Creator, and to make every good thing in our lives a pathway back to heaven.

Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)

Closing Prayer

O Lord, You have said: Unless you become as little children you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven; grant us, we beg You, so to follow, in humility and simplicity of heart, the footsteps of the Virgin blessed Therese, that we may attain to an everlasting reward. Amen.

Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
