Seeking Refuge

From the St. Dymphna Novena

Sacred Scripture: Psalm 46:1

Meditation for Day 3

To escape her father's disordered demands, Dymphna fled, accompanied by the priest Gerebernus, and found refuge on the continent, near the town of Geel. She did not face her trial alone, but sought safety and the help of others.

Ask Saint Dymphna for the grace to seek help in your own struggles — and for all who feel they must suffer alone.

Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)

Philippians 4:6-7

Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Saint Paul's words on peace amid anxiety (New American Bible) may be prayed as the daily closing of the novena.

Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
