Consecration of the family to the Sacred Heart
From the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Sacred Scripture: Joshua 24:15
Meditation for Day 7
The seventh day is dedicated to the enthronement and consecration of the Christian home to the Sacred Heart. Pope Pius XII, in Haurietis Aquas, urged the practice of enthroning an image of the Sacred Heart in every Catholic household.
Today's prayer entrusts the entire family — present, absent, living, deceased — to the Heart of Christ, asking that the home become a domestic church animated by his love.
Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)
Daily Closing Prayer — Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I consecrate to you my person and my life, my actions, trials, and sufferings, that my entire being may henceforth only be employed in loving, honoring, and glorifying you. This is my unchangeable will: to belong entirely to you and to do all things for the love of you. I renounce with all my heart whatever is displeasing to you. Amen.
Pope Leo XIII consecrated the entire human race to the Sacred Heart on June 11, 1899, in the encyclical Annum Sacrum.
Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
