The love of the Heart of Christ for sinners
From the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Sacred Scripture: Luke 19:10
Meditation for Day 2
The second day meditates on Christ's love for sinners. He came, in his own words, 'to seek and to save the lost.' His Heart bore the weight of every sin ever committed, and out of that wounded Heart flowed blood and water at Calvary — the founts of the sacraments of mercy.
The novena today asks the Sacred Heart for the grace of true repentance and for the conversion of those souls who have wandered far from God.
Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)
Daily Closing Prayer — Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I consecrate to you my person and my life, my actions, trials, and sufferings, that my entire being may henceforth only be employed in loving, honoring, and glorifying you. This is my unchangeable will: to belong entirely to you and to do all things for the love of you. I renounce with all my heart whatever is displeasing to you. Amen.
Pope Leo XIII consecrated the entire human race to the Sacred Heart on June 11, 1899, in the encyclical Annum Sacrum.
Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
