The love of the Heart of Christ in the Holy Eucharist
From the Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Sacred Scripture: John 6:53-56
Meditation for Day 4
The fourth day meditates on the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus. The Sacred Heart is not a memory of love past; it beats in the Blessed Sacrament, truly present in every tabernacle of the world.
The Second Vatican Council called the Eucharist 'the source and summit of the Christian life.' The novena today asks for deeper reverence at Mass, greater hunger for Holy Communion, and a renewed habit of Eucharistic Adoration.
Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)
Daily Closing Prayer — Act of Consecration to the Sacred Heart
Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I consecrate to you my person and my life, my actions, trials, and sufferings, that my entire being may henceforth only be employed in loving, honoring, and glorifying you. This is my unchangeable will: to belong entirely to you and to do all things for the love of you. I renounce with all my heart whatever is displeasing to you. Amen.
Pope Leo XIII consecrated the entire human race to the Sacred Heart on June 11, 1899, in the encyclical Annum Sacrum.
Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
