Day 8 of 9

For the intercession of Our Lady alongside St. Anthony

From the Novena to St. Anthony of Padua

Sacred Scripture: John 2:3

Meditation for Day 8

On this eighth day the novena tradition places our petition before both St. Anthony and the Queen of Heaven together, echoing the way Mary interceded at Cana simply by saying, 'They have no wine.' Anthony's deep Marian devotion was a hallmark of his Franciscan spirituality, and he wrote movingly of Mary's role in the work of salvation. Ask St. Anthony today to bring your need before Our Lady, that she in turn may present it at the throne of her Divine Son.

Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)

Closing Prayer

O God, may the votive commemoration of blessed Anthony, your confessor, be a source of joy to your Church, that she may always be fortified with spiritual assistance, and deserve to enjoy eternal rewards. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Saint Anthony, pray for us!

Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
