Day 2 of 9

For those who feel unheard or forgotten

From the Novena to St. Anthony of Padua

Sacred Scripture: Psalm 34:17

Meditation for Day 2

The tradition of this novena holds that it has never been heard that St. Anthony left anyone without help who had recourse to him in need. This consoling truth echoes the Psalmist's assurance that the Lord hears the cry of the afflicted. Anthony's charity for the poor and suffering was legendary during his earthly life, and his intercession from heaven is no less attentive. Bring before him today any person who feels overlooked or without a voice.

Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)

Closing Prayer

O God, may the votive commemoration of blessed Anthony, your confessor, be a source of joy to your Church, that she may always be fortified with spiritual assistance, and deserve to enjoy eternal rewards. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Saint Anthony, pray for us!

Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
