Day 7 of 9

For the recovery of what has been lost, whether material or spiritual

From the Novena to St. Anthony of Padua

Sacred Scripture: Luke 15:8-9

Meditation for Day 7

St. Anthony is the universal patron of lost things, a tradition rooted in the miracle by which a stolen psalter was returned to him through his prayer. But Anthony's intercession extends beyond lost objects to every kind of loss: lost faith, lost hope, lost relationships, lost health, and lost peace. As Our Lord told the parable of the woman who searched diligently for her lost coin, so Anthony searches the heart of God on our behalf. Ask him today for the restoration of whatever has been taken from you.

Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)

Closing Prayer

O God, may the votive commemoration of blessed Anthony, your confessor, be a source of joy to your Church, that she may always be fortified with spiritual assistance, and deserve to enjoy eternal rewards. Through Christ our Lord. Amen. Saint Anthony, pray for us!

Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
