For final perseverance and the grace of a holy death
From the Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Sacred Scripture: Romans 8:38-39
Meditation for Day 7
Saint Paul proclaimed that nothing 'in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.' Mary's intercession is a powerful instrument of that persevering love, especially at the hour of death when her name is 'the salvation of the dying.' The Redemptorist novena specifically petitions for 'final perseverance,' that grace without which no other gift suffices. On this seventh day, commend to Our Lady of Perpetual Help all who are near death, all who have wandered from the faith, and your own soul at its last moment.Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)
Closing Prayer
Mother of Perpetual Help, you have been blessed and favoured by God. You became not only the Mother of the Redeemer, but Mother of the redeemed as well. We come to you today as your loving children. Watch over us and take care of us. As you held the Child Jesus in your loving arms, so take us in your arms. Be a mother ready at every moment to help us. For God who is mighty has done great things for you, and God's mercy is from age to age on those who love God. Intercede for us, dear Mother, in obtaining pardon for our sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace always to call upon you, Mother of Perpetual Help.
Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
