For the grace of love for Jesus and growth in holiness
From the Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help
Sacred Scripture: John 2:5
Meditation for Day 6
At Cana, Mary's final recorded words in the Gospel point always toward her Son: 'Do whatever he tells you.' This is the perpetual vocation of Our Lady — not to draw attention to herself, but to lead every soul to the love of Christ. The third prayer of the Redemptorist novena asks Mary to obtain 'love for Jesus' as one of the four great graces of the devotion. On this sixth day, ask her to deepen in you a personal, living love for the Eucharistic Lord, the same Jesus she held as a child in the icon that bears her name.Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)
Closing Prayer
Mother of Perpetual Help, you have been blessed and favoured by God. You became not only the Mother of the Redeemer, but Mother of the redeemed as well. We come to you today as your loving children. Watch over us and take care of us. As you held the Child Jesus in your loving arms, so take us in your arms. Be a mother ready at every moment to help us. For God who is mighty has done great things for you, and God's mercy is from age to age on those who love God. Intercede for us, dear Mother, in obtaining pardon for our sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace always to call upon you, Mother of Perpetual Help.
Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
