Day 4 of 9

For healing of the sick and relief of those who suffer

From the Novena to Our Lady of Perpetual Help

Sacred Scripture: Matthew 11:28

Meditation for Day 4

Jesus himself said, 'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.' Mary, as the icon of Perpetual Help shows, holds her Son's hand and draws us to him with maternal tenderness. Those who are sick in body or wounded in spirit are invited to kneel before this icon knowing that the same arms that held the Redeemer now hold them in prayer before his throne. Offer this day's novena for all in your family and community who carry the cross of illness or grief.

Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)

Closing Prayer

Mother of Perpetual Help, you have been blessed and favoured by God. You became not only the Mother of the Redeemer, but Mother of the redeemed as well. We come to you today as your loving children. Watch over us and take care of us. As you held the Child Jesus in your loving arms, so take us in your arms. Be a mother ready at every moment to help us. For God who is mighty has done great things for you, and God's mercy is from age to age on those who love God. Intercede for us, dear Mother, in obtaining pardon for our sins, love for Jesus, final perseverance, and the grace always to call upon you, Mother of Perpetual Help.

Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
