Provision in financial hardship and want
From the Novena to the Infant Jesus of Prague
Sacred Scripture: Matthew 6:31-33
Meditation for Day 5
Jesus told his disciples not to be anxious about what they would eat or wear, for 'your heavenly Father knows that you need them all' (Mt 6:32), and bade them seek first the kingdom of God. The Infant of Prague devotion has long been a refuge for those in financial distress.
The Prayer of Thanksgiving professes belief in the Child's promise of 'peace, blessings, and freedom from want.' Today's prayer places before the Divine Infant every material need — debts, employment, the care of a family — with confidence in the Father's providence.
Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)
Prayer of Thanksgiving to the Divine Infant Jesus
Divine Infant Jesus, I know You love me and would never leave me. I thank You for Your close Presence in my life. Miraculous Infant, I believe in Your promise of peace, blessings, and freedom from want. I place every need and care in Your hands. Lord Jesus, may I always trust in Your generous mercy and love. I want to honor and praise You, now and forever. Amen.
The traditional Prayer of Thanksgiving that concludes the Infant of Prague novena, preceded each day by the three petitions beginning "O Jesus, Who has said..." Recited each of the nine days.
Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
