Day 4 of 9

The humility of God made a little Child

From the Novena to the Infant Jesus of Prague

Sacred Scripture: Luke 2:7

Meditation for Day 4

The Infant of Prague is venerated as the Word made flesh in the helplessness of infancy: 'she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger' (Lk 2:7). God chose to come among us as a child to draw near to us in tenderness.

The crowned statue, holding the globe of the world, unites this littleness with his true kingship. Today's prayer adores the Infant Jesus who is at once a vulnerable child and the King of all creation, and asks him for a humble and trusting heart.

Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)

Prayer of Thanksgiving to the Divine Infant Jesus

Divine Infant Jesus, I know You love me and would never leave me. I thank You for Your close Presence in my life. Miraculous Infant, I believe in Your promise of peace, blessings, and freedom from want. I place every need and care in Your hands. Lord Jesus, may I always trust in Your generous mercy and love. I want to honor and praise You, now and forever. Amen.

The traditional Prayer of Thanksgiving that concludes the Infant of Prague novena, preceded each day by the three petitions beginning "O Jesus, Who has said..." Recited each of the nine days.

Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
