Day 9 of 9

Continuing Intercession

From the St. Gerard Majella Novena

Sacred Scripture: Hebrews 12:1

Meditation for Day 9

Canonized by Pope Pius X in 1904, Saint Gerard has not ceased to intercede for those who turn to him, especially mothers. He is part of that 'great cloud of witnesses' who surround and pray for the Church on earth.

On this final day, commend your whole intention to Saint Gerard, confident in the prayers of a saint who loved God's little ones.

Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)

Psalm 139:13-14

You formed my inmost being; you knit me in my mother's womb. I praise you, because I am wonderfully made; wonderful are your works! My very self you know.

This psalm of the child knit together in the womb (New American Bible) may be prayed as the daily closing of the novena.

Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
