Psalm 120 is the pilgrim's psalm — sung by travelers to Jerusalem and prayed by Catholic travelers since. St. Christopher's medal on the dashboard is folk custom; the prayer behind it is this.

my guardian dear,
to whom God's love commits me here,
ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.

3May he not suffer thy foot to be moved: neither let him slumber that keepeth thee.
