Day 7 of 9

The souls who especially venerate and glorify Jesus' mercy

From the Divine Mercy Novena

Sacred Scripture: Psalm 89:1

Meditation for Day 7

On the seventh day, Jesus asked that the souls who especially venerate and glorify his mercy be brought to him. These are souls who proclaim God's mercy by word and by their lives.

St. John Paul II, in his encyclical Dives in Misericordia (1980), wrote that the Church 'must consider it one of her principal duties — at every stage of history and especially in our modern age — to proclaim and to introduce into life the mystery of mercy.' Today's prayer is for those who carry that mission.

Daily Novena Prayer (recited every day)

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy

Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world.

St. Faustina taught that the Chaplet of Divine Mercy should accompany the novena each day. The full chaplet uses ordinary Rosary beads.

Concluding prayers: Many novena traditions add one Our Father, one Hail Mary, and one Glory Be at the close of each day's prayer.
