St. Sylvester

St. Sylvester Chapel is a mission site of St. Raphael Parish, tucked into the Glenwood neighborhood near the bay in San Rafael, California. The converted building traces its roots to an early 1900s school for the children of McNear brickyard workers and was reopened as a chapel in September 1957 after Archbishop John Joseph Mitty purchased the property. Part of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, it holds a Saturday vigil Mass at 4:30 p.m. for the Catholic community of East San Rafael.
