Mission Dolores

Founded on June 29, 1776, under the direction of Father Junipero Serra, Mission Dolores — formally Misión San Francisco de Asís — is the oldest building in San Francisco and the oldest intact California Mission. The parish encompasses both the historic adobe Old Mission and an adjacent Basilica, and serves a culturally diverse congregation in the Mission District with daily Mass and a Spanish-language Sunday liturgy. It stands as both a living parish of the Archdiocese of San Francisco and a landmark of California's Catholic heritage.
