Sacred Heart Knanaya Catholic Forane Parish in Maywood, Illinois holds the distinction of being the first Knanaya Catholic parish established outside the Archeparchy of Kottayam, India, founded in 2006 and elevated to forane status in 2015. Under Pastor Fr. Thomas Mulavanal, this Syro-Malabar community in the Archdiocese of Chicago serves Knanaya Catholics across Illinois and Indiana with three Sunday Masses, a Saturday morning Mass, six Koodara Yogam prayer fellowship groups, and active chapters of the Legion of Mary and St. Vincent de Paul.
