About St. Stanislaus Kostka Parish
Founded in 1867 by thirty Polish immigrant families, St. Stanislaus Kostka in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood became the first Polish parish in Chicago and, by 1897, the largest parish in the entire United States with 40,000 members. The current Romanesque church, designed by architect Patrick C. Keely — who also designed Holy Name Cathedral — was completed in 1892 and has been administered by the Resurrectionists since 1869, with five Sunday Masses keeping this landmark community active today.
