St. Mary Church, part of St. Alphonsus Parish in New Orleans, has been served by the Redemptorist Fathers since the parish's founding in 1843. The historic St. Mary's Assumption building in the Irish Channel — now the focus of an active preservation campaign — holds the tomb of Blessed Francis Xavier Seelos, the Redemptorist priest beatified in 2000 who died caring for yellow fever victims in 19th-century New Orleans. Daily weekday Mass and Tuesday Perpetual Help devotions continue the parish's deep Marian and Redemptorist heritage under Pastor Fr. Chung Tran, C.Ss.R.
