About Holy Name Cathedral

Holy Name Cathedral, dedicated on November 21, 1875 — the Feast of the Presentation of Mary — is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Chicago and the seat of Cardinal Blase Cupich. Designed by architect Patrick Charles Keely in Victorian Gothic style and rebuilt after the Great Chicago Fire, the cathedral holds five Sunday Masses plus Saturday vigils and a Wednesday evening Mass. It is celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2025, and its acclaimed music program features historic Flentrop and gallery organs and hosts Rush Hour Concerts open to the public.
