Established in 1787 by the Jesuits in Georgetown, Holy Trinity is the oldest Catholic parish in continuous operation in Washington, D.C., and remains staffed by the Society of Jesus today. President John F. Kennedy worshipped here regularly, and during the Civil War the federal government used the church building as a hospital after the Second Battle of Bull Run. The parish offers Mass daily — morning and midday every day plus an evening option — serving the Georgetown neighborhood within the Archdiocese of Washington.
