Established in 1884, St. Joseph Parish in Columbia, Virginia is one of the oldest parishes in the Commonwealth and holds the rare distinction of being one of only two national shrines to Saint Katharine Drexel in the United States. The heiress-turned-nun who founded the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament was canonized in 2000, and this Diocese of Richmond parish preserves her legacy for pilgrims and parishioners who gather each Sunday for the 9 a.m. Mass.
