St. Joseph in Duluth Heights has served this northern Minnesota neighborhood since its founding in 1921 by Dominican sisters and a small group of Catholic families, with its current building opening in 1954. After parishioners successfully appealed a 2019 merger order to the Vatican, Bishop Daniel Felton re-established the parish on the First Sunday of Advent 2021; it now proudly serves as "a beacon of hope to Duluth Heights" within the Diocese of Duluth, with Sunday Mass at 9:30 AM and a Saturday vigil.
