Founded in 1887 by German and Irish settlers in Wanatah, Indiana, Sacred Heart Parish—originally named Church of the Most Precious Blood—has occupied its historic 1888 church building for over a century. Now part of The Catholic Communities cluster in the Diocese of Gary, the parish gathers on Friday mornings, Saturday afternoons, and Sunday mornings, rooted in a mission of spirituality, charity, and service.
