St. John the Baptist in Malone, Wisconsin, is part of Our Lady of the Holyland, a cluster of historic rural parishes in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee first established in 1841 by Fr. Caspar Rehrl — known as the "Apostle to the Holyland" — to serve German immigrant farming families. The Capuchin Franciscan friars have ministered to these communities since 1857, and Holyland Catholic School continues to serve the area today.
