Founded in 1880 by Irish settlers in Watkins, Iowa, St. Patrick parish carries a deep Irish heritage marked by an annual St. Patrick's Day Mass and potluck, and a custom wooden statue of the patron saint carved by local artisan Jack Becker in 1991.
