St. Christopher the Martyr Parish in Metairie, Louisiana was established by Archbishop Joseph Rummel on July 1, 1947, carved out of St. Catherine of Siena and St. Agnes Parishes to serve a rapidly growing suburban community. Over the following decades it became a mother parish for six daughter parishes in Jefferson Parish and continues to serve the Archdiocese of New Orleans with daily early-morning and multiple Sunday Masses.
