About Shrine Church of Our Lady of Solace
Founded in 1900 and serving Coney Island's West 17th Street neighborhood, the Shrine Church of Our Lady of Solace is the only Catholic faith community in Coney Island — staffed by the Vocationist Fathers since its origins in a converted beer hall. The Diocese of Brooklyn parish offers Sunday Masses in both English and Spanish and maintains a Holy Family Memorial Garden and active prayer ministries including the rosary, Divine Mercy chaplet, and Stations of the Cross.
