The Basilica of Regina Pacis in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn is a minor basilica elevated by Pope Benedict XVI in 2012, built in Italian Renaissance Revival style entirely in marble imported from Italy. Founded in 1942 and dedicated in 1951, its 52-foot ceiling mural was painted over three years by Italian artist Ignacio LaRussa. Today the basilica serves a diverse neighborhood, offering Sunday Masses in English, Spanish, and Chinese, with daily morning Mass and a Saturday vigil in the Diocese of Brooklyn.
