Founded on All Saints Day in 1896 — just weeks after the town of Mena itself was established — St. Agnes Church is a cornerstone of Catholic life in the Arkansas Ouachitas. The parish's striking native-stone building, built in a cross formation with Spanish arch-ribbed green-tile roofing and German-imported stained glass windows, has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1991. Under the care of Fr. Joseph Shantiraj, the community gathers for daily Mass throughout the week and offers two Sunday Masses, along with faith formation, a food bank, and a Catholics Returning Home program.
