About St. Mary Ruthenian Catholic Church
Founded in 1900 by Rusyn immigrant coal miners, St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Windber, Pennsylvania preserves the Eastern Catholic heritage of its founders. The 1926 church building features copper-roofed towers, marble altar pillars, and an icon screen installed in 1986 as part of a deliberate effort to restore Byzantine tradition. Under the pastoral care of Fr. Ivan Rusyn, the parish celebrates the Divine Liturgy on Sundays, Saturdays, and Wednesdays.
