About The Black Madonna

Founded in 1927 by Polish Franciscan Missionary Brothers, the Black Madonna Shrine in Pacific, Missouri is a nationally recognized pilgrimage site nestled in the Ozark foothills of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Built from Missouri tiff rock and adorned with mosaics and grotto sculptures, it is dedicated to Our Lady of Czestochowa — Queen of Peace and Mercy — and has been designated an official pilgrimage site for the 2026-2027 Jubilee Year of Saint Francis of Assisi. A Sunday morning Mass anchors the prayerful life of this unique Franciscan-operated shrine.
