Our Lady of the Scapular is one of the oldest Catholic communities in southeastern North Dakota, with roots stretching back to 1879 when Father Stephan organized the first parish in the Jenksville settlement. The current church in Sheldon was built in 1884 under Father Tierney and has served the rural faithful of the Diocese of Fargo for well over a century. Today it is part of the Enderlin-Fingal-Sheldon cluster of parishes and offers a Wednesday morning Mass.
