About St. Joseph's Church

Organized in 1850, St. Joseph's Church is one of the oldest Catholic communities along Connecticut's lower Connecticut River, serving Chester and surrounding villages in the Diocese of Norwich. Its Gothic-style church on Middlesex Avenue was built in 1891-1892 and later enlarged in 1929. Today the parish offers a Sunday morning Mass, weekday Masses, and a Saturday vigil for the small towns it has served for more than a century and a half.
