Founded in 1861 by Irish immigrants drawn to Rossie's iron furnaces and lead mines, St. Patrick's Church in the Diocese of Ogdensburg is built of native sandstone on a knoll above the Indian River. The original altar of white Carrara marble survived a devastating 1948 fire — along with the Blessed Sacrament — and the church was rebuilt and rededicated in 1949. Today it is part of the Our Lady of Grace multi-parish grouping, celebrating a Sunday morning Mass for the rural St. Lawrence County community.
