About St. Bede Abbey

Founded in 1891, St. Bede Abbey in Peru, Illinois is a Benedictine monastery where the monks of the Order of Saint Benedict live a contemplative life of prayer, silence, and work under Abbot Michael Calhoun, O.S.B. The Abbey welcomes the public to daily Mass and Sunday worship, operates St. Bede Academy — a co-educational Catholic boarding and day high school — and offers Bethany House as a retreat and rest facility for visitors to the Illinois Valley.
