St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church

Founded in 1891, St. John the Baptist is Pittsburgh's oldest Ukrainian Catholic church and celebrates the Byzantine rite in full communion with Rome. Under the administration of Fr. Yaroslav Koval, the parish gathers for Sunday Divine Liturgy at 8:30 a.m. and a Saturday evening Divine Liturgy preceded by Vespers, while welcoming all who embrace the Eastern Christian tradition regardless of ethnic background. The church's distinctive golden dome — currently undergoing restoration with a $200,000 grant — and its beloved St. John's Pyrohy Kitchen have made it a landmark of the Pittsburgh Ukrainian community for over a century. It belongs to the Eparchy of Saint Josaphat in Parma.
