About St. Meinrad Parish Church

Perched on a hillside near Saint Meinrad Archabbey in southern Indiana, the Monte Cassino Shrine chapel was built in 1870 of local sandstone, and a novena offered there in 1871 is credited with sparing the village from a smallpox epidemic. Managed by the Benedictine monks of the Archabbey within the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, the shrine welcomes pilgrims from dawn to dusk daily and hosts Saturday Masses year-round, with public Rosary pilgrimages on Sundays in May and October.
