St. Isabella Parish in the Terra Linda neighborhood of San Rafael traces its roots to 1959, when the children of Azorean immigrants Manuel and Maria Freitas donated the last ten acres of the family's "Home Ranch" to the Archdiocese of San Francisco; the church, dedicated to St. Elizabeth (Isabel) of Portugal in honor of the family's devotion, was built in 1961. The parish offers daily morning Mass, a Saturday evening vigil, and Sunday morning worship.
