About St. Francis Xavier

Founded in 1838 by Jesuit missionary Fr. Ferdinand Helias to serve a community of German immigrant families, St. Francis Xavier in Taos, Missouri is one of the oldest Catholic parishes in the Diocese of Jefferson City. The current stone church, built in 1883, anchors a faith community that spans generations of rural Missouri Catholic life; Fr. Helias's remains rest within the church itself.
