About The Basilica of St. Andrew

Standing in Roanoke's old railroad district, the Basilica of St. Andrew traces its parish to 1882 and Irish Catholic workers who built the Shenandoah Railroad. Its towering High Victorian Gothic church, designed by William P. Ginther and completed in 1902, joined the National Register of Historic Places in 1973 and was elevated to a minor basilica by the Vatican in 2023.
