About Assumption

Founded in 1856 to serve German immigrants, the Church of the Assumption is the oldest surviving church in downtown Saint Paul and a landmark of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Its Romanesque design, with twin 210-foot spires modeled on Munich's Ludwigskirche, earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975. The parish offers four Sunday Masses along with a Saturday morning Mass and vigil.
