Founded in 1876 by German immigrants and famously built by its own parishioner bricklayers, St. Paul's is the towering Gothic Revival landmark of Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood, designed by architect Henry J. Schlacks. Once German, then Czech and Polish, it is today a thriving Mexican-American parish offering daily Mass and bilingual Spanish and English liturgies, along with community ministries like its Holy Grounds coffee house.
